FORUM ON GIRLS’ EDUCATION IN GHANA, ORGANIZED BY STAR GHANA FOUNDATION
The Girls’ Education in Ghana forum commenced with a welcome address from Mr. Amidu Ibrahim-Tanko, Executive Director of the Star Ghana Foundation Team, emphasizing the importance of stakeholder opinions in advocating for girls’ education in Ghana. Key stakeholders such as FCDO, Girls’ Education Unit, and CAMFED delivered messages highlighting their roles, implemented measures, and future plans to support girls’ education. Ms. Eunice Agbenyadzi, Head of Programs at Star Ghana, presented a synthesis of their findings and a scoping review on strategies for promoting girls’ education in Ghana. This was followed by a discussion among all participants regarding the presentation. Dr. Leslie Casely-Hyaford, Director of Associates for Change, gave a presentation on “Complementary Education and Girls’ Education in Ghana.” Subsequently, Mr. Kofi Asare, Director of African Education Watch, and Mrs. Bernice Mpere-Gyekye, National Coordinator for Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC), provided brief comments on the meeting’s theme and the presentations.
